9 MEMBER EVEREST EXPEDITION TEAM OF ONGC FELICITATED BY DHARMENDRA PRADHAN

Minister of State (IC) of Petroleum and Natural Gas Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan felicitated the 9-member #ONGCEverestExpedition team on successful completion of the mission. Importantly 7 out of 9 members completed the final summit and scaled the highest peak in the world in May this year.

Mr Pradhan complimented ONGC for taking this unique Corporate Initiative. “This will go a long way in promoting adventure activities in Corporates,” he said. With this feat, ONGC has become one of the first corporates in the world to successfully scale the Everest. Mr. Pradhan also lauded the ONGC team for linking the expedition with Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. Interestingly as a part of this expedition, ONGC has helped Nepal Government in removing tons of solid wastes, that is littered on the Everest peak and this team has brought back that garbage from the peak.

Congratulating the achievement of the ONGC employees, ONGC CMD DK Sarraf said that “I am filled with pride as ONGCians have scaled the Everest and this is a momentous occasion for ONGC where ONGCians accomplished the Mission Everest. This shows the conviction, courage, teamwork and commitment of our colleagues which has helped ONGC to become one of the largest global E&P companies. I’m sure this winning streak will continue.”

ONGC’s Director (HR) DMr. D Misra, who is the main driving force behind this expedition hailed the team members and said “Scaling Mount Everest is a lifetime achievement. I’m extremely proud of our own boys and girls who have accomplished this mission”.

The ONGC Everest Expedition is a phenomenal employee engagement initiative taken by ONGC. This is a unique HR initiative of ONGC to instill values of adventure, camaraderie, team spirit and bravado within the organization.

ONGC officials informed that the idea of Mission Everest was born out of the team’s successful completion of the Everest Base Camp Trek in October 2015. From then on, there has been no looking back. ONGC CMD has then exhorted all team members on their return to target Mt Everest. The IMF has been instrumental in the success of this expedition by not only providing training to the employees but also preparing them for all the adverse conditions, under the mentorship of Col H S Chauhan, President IMF.
