 Create your own destiny with Hard Work, Grit and Will Power- CMD NTPC tells young engineers at BIT Mesra

 “Recognize the legacies of the past and prepare yourself for pay back to your Alma Mater  and always acknowledge and recognise those who got you where you are” said Dr Arup Roy Choudhury ,CMD NTPC and Chairman DVC , addressing young  students  at XXIV Convocation Ceremony held at BIT Mesra, at Ranchi in Jharkhand today . “Compete with yourself to ascend the ladder of self actualisation” and “create your own destiny through Hard Work , Grit and Will Power” he said. Exhorting young budding professionals to be prepared for challenges and conquering them he said there is learning at every stage of life and all those planning a long successful journey must prepare exceedingly well.

He thanked Hon’ble Governor of Jharkhand and Chancellor Dr. Syed Ahmed for and Dr. Manoj kumar Mishra, Vice Chancellor for giving him opportunity to interact with young graduates. Remembering the day when he first walked into the institute as young 16 year old he said  coming back to one’s alma mater is one of the most satisfying and emotional experiences.  He also shared his Guruji’s dictum “Sankalp Shuddh hi Siddha” meaning if your intentions are pure, you are bound to succeed in life.   I have always followed this mantra and this always works he told the large gathering of youth.

Becoming the youngest CEO of a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) at the age of 44 years, Dr. Roy Choudhury scripted  a stunning turnaround story  by transforming NBCC. The transformational turnaround of the Company brought about by him enabled NBCC’s turnover grow about 10 times and net-worth over 500 times during his tenure of nine-and-a-half years at the helm.

Dr. Roy Choudhury  heads NTPC Limited, a Maharatna , the largest power producer in the country and ranked #1 Independent Power Producer in the World by Platts Top Global Company Rankings-2013.  With a total installed capacity of 43019 MW, NTPC contributes over 27 percent of total electricity generated in India.

 

Dr. Arup Roy Choudhury has also authored a book titled” Management by Idiots which has been very received.
