NLC India Limited Commenced Construction works for 1980 MW Power Plant in UP

New Delhi, October 21:Shri. Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines, Government of India unveiled the  plaque to commenced the construction works  for   Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Project (NUPPL), a Coal Based Super Critical Thermal Power Project at Ghatampur in Kanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, during Ground breaking Ceremony  at Lauhuriman Village ,Ghatampur on, 20.10.2016. This power plant is a joint venture of NLC India Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited. (UPRVUNL) through Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL)

Earlier, Dr. Murali Manohar Joshi, Member of Parliament, Kanpur Constituency, presided over the function  for the construction of Super Critical Thermal Power Project. The Bhoomi Pooja was done in the presence of Hon’ble Minister Shri Piyush Goyal,  Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Minister of State (MoS) for Food Processing Industries ,Govt of India,  Shri. Devendra Singh (Bhole Singh), Member of Parliament , Shri. Raghunandan Singh Bhadauriya, M.L.A, Satish Mahana , MLA and Dr.Sarat Kumar Achrya CMD,NLC India Limited  and other dignitaries.

Addressing the function, Shri Piyush Goyal stated that Central Government  very eager to complete the construction works of this project within the sanctioned period  and it would bring the industrialization in this area.  He said that it would also provides the maximum  share of generated power to State Government  to improve the power situation in the state.

Dr. Murali Manohar Joshi, said that, completion of the project in within time frame is the main concern of this Government, and he assured that, he will prioritize his concerns for the  early construction of  this  project   to see happiness in the people.

About Rs.17,237.80 Crore will be spent towards  the construction of the plant  (funded through equity (30%) and Loans (70%). Time Schedule for completion of  Unit I , Unit II and Unit III  of project is 52nd,58th and 64th  months from the date of Sanction by Govt.of India (20.07.2016). The Project requires 11.35 Million Tonnes  Coal per Annum.The Union Environment Ministry  has accorded clearance for the project with imported coal option. Also to fulfill the water requirement of the project State Government of Uttar Pradesh allocated 80 Cubic Feet Per Sec water from Allahabad Branch Canal, near Bidhnu  Kasba.

NLC India Limited Functional Directors Shri Rakesh Kumar, Shri Subir Das, Shri  V Thangapandian , senior officials from UPRVUNL  political leaders and senior officials from Central and State Govt. participated in the function.
