NTPC and EGCB ink Contract Agreement in Bangladesh

NTPC Limited, India’s largest State owned power generator, signed a Contract Agreement with Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh Ltd (EGCB) today for providing Operation and Maintenance Services for 2×120 MW Gas based Siddhirganj Peaking Power Plant located near Dhaka in Bangladesh.
The Contract Agreement was signed by the Company Secretary of EGCB, Mr. Kazi Nazrul Islam and Mr. A. N. Mishra, Additional General Manager, NTPC Ltd at EGCB head office in Dhaka in presence of  Mr. I. J. Kapoor, Director (Commercial), NTPC Chairman EGCB;   Mr. M.A. Muttalib, Chairman EGCB,    and other Senior Officials of India High Commission, NTPC and Bangladesh.
Services to be provided by NTPC includes Transition Management & Take Over services, Operation & Maintenance of  Owner’s facility,  Recruitment & Training of Owner’s Staff,  Health, Safety, Quality and Environment Management for a period of Six years. NTPC shall deploy its experts shortly at Siddhirganj Power Plant.  EGCB shall be benefited from vast experience and knowledge base of NTPC in efficiently operating Thermal Power Stations, as well as from world class Best Practices, Systems and Work Culture of NTPC.
NTPC Ltd is the No 1   IPP in the world (as per Platts 2011 ranking), 10th largest power generator in the world, and 3rd largest power generator in Asia, having installed Capacity of 35,354 MW and 13,588 MW Capacity under construction.  EGCB Ltd is an Enterprise of Bangladesh Power Development Board incorporated with Registrar of joint stock companies in February, 2004 to produce and sale Electricity.
This contract, awarded against International Competition, is valued at about Rs 43Cr).  EGCB shall be receiving Credit from International Development Association (The World Bank) for this O&M Services.
This is the largest single international order received by NTPC. NTPC has thus forayed in to becoming an “International O&M Operator”.
