Chennai,July 21: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today announced another welfare measure ordering distribution of 54,000 tailoring machines to members of Women Tailoring Cooperative Societies,adequate training to them. An official press release here said she earmarked Rs 54 crore for the scheme.
She also ordered hike inthe wages of the members of tailoring socieites by five per cent every year.The release recalled that the Chief Minister had increased the number of uniforms given to students under MGR Noon-Meal scheme from two to four. To ensure that the students get the uniforms in time and also to make sure that the women members of the tailoring socieites earn more, she ordered the distribute 54,000 tailoring machines to them, at a total cost of Rs 54 crore.The release said that the productivity of tailoring societies and their members will increase due to this initiative.
