Special staff, South District has arrested two desperate and active snatchers/robbers namely Ravi (24 years) S/o Raja R/o Madangir, New Delhi and Suraj (30 years) S/o Krishnuppa R/o Madangir, New Delhi. With their arrest, 17 gold chains and 1 gold mangal sutra have been recovered from their possession.
Brief facts :
In order to curb the incidents of snatching in South Delhi, Special Staff, South District was assigned the task of developing information about the snatchers / robbers operating in South Delhi and arrest them. A team led by Inspr. Akhilesh Yadav, I/C Special Staff/SD, consisting of SI Jeet Singh, ASIs Bhagirath Prasad, Ashok Kumar, Mahender Kumar, HCs Premjit, Vijay Kumar, Bir Singh, Joginder Singh, Manoj Kumar, Cts. Sunil Kumar, Vijay and Ct. Yogesh was formed to develop intelligence regarding such gangs, operating in the South Delhi. The team received some credible information regarding the movements of few criminals operating in South Delhi. The information was further developed and on the basis of some credible information, the above team intercepted two persons who were identified as Ravi S/o Raja R/o Madangir, New Delhi and Suraj S/o Krishnuppa R/o Madangir, New Delhi. On their cursory search, 17 snatched/robbed gold chains and one snatched/robbed gold Mangal Sutra were recovered from their possession.
Interrogation:
During interrogation, both accused did not give any satisfactory reply regarding the possession of huge quantity of gold chains rather tried to mislead the police party. Finally, during sustained interrogation, they broke down and confessed to have snatched these gold chains from different areas in South Delhi. They also pointed out the places of occurrence in the area of PS Saket, Mehrauli, R. K. Puram, Malviya Nagar, V. K. South, Kalkaji, etc. They further disclosed that they mainly targeted ladies, roaming in the busy market, temples and nearby Metro Stations. As per their pointing out, 36 cases of snatching/robbery have so far been solved.

Profile of accused persons:
Ravi S/o Raja R/o C-Ist/210, Madangir, New Delhi (24 years) is illiterate and belongs to a poor family. He was arrested by the Faridabad Police in snatching cases last year. He is previously involved in the following criminal cases :

Suraj S/o Krishnuppa R/o D-Ist/328, Madangir, New Delhi (30 years) has studied upto 10th class. He provides home tuitions to the children but he was unable to meet his family expenses with his insufficient earnings. He is arrested for the first time.
RECOVERY:
17 snatched / robbed gold chains.

The police personnel involved in good work are being rewarded suitably.
