Crime Branch has apprehended two drug traffickers and recovered 110 kg of fine quality Ganja. Value of the recovered Ganja is Rs. 1.25 crore approximately in the International Market.
On 09/09/2014, information was received by SI Karamveer that one drug trafficker Selvam r/o Madrasi Colony, Mori Gate, Delhi would come at Round-about, Mori Gate, Delhi to deliver Ganja to one Rama Swamy. A team of officers of Narcotics Branch led by Inspr. Vivek Pathak consisting of SI Karamveer, HCs Kanwal Singh, Mahesh Kumar and Sudhir Kumar promptly swung into action under the supervision of ACPRavinder Kumar Tyagi, and overall guidance of DCPM. A. Rizvi. A trap was laid at the place of information and two persons namely Selvam r/o Madrasi Colony, Mori Gate, New Delhi and Rama Swamy r/o Madrasi Colony, Mori Gate, New Delhi were apprehended by the team alongwith 90 kg Ganja and 20 kg Ganja in their possession respectively. A case vide FIR No. 94/14 dated 09.09.2014 u/s 20/29 of NDPS Act has been registered at PS Crime Branch and the accused have been arrested.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Selvam is a permanent resident of Tamil Nadu. His father is a scrap dealer and he is the youngest amongst his three brothers and one sister. He has studied up to 12th standard. Selvam could not study further due to poor financial condition of the family. He alongwith his brothers started textile business from Chennai. During his visits to Chennai, he met one Naidu who induced him to indulge in sale and supply of Ganja in Delhi to earn good fortune. After this, Selvam shifted to Delhi two years back. To bring Ganja from Andhra Pradesh, he used to travel in general compartment of the train in which mostly Army personnel travel and used to put his luggage containing Ganja with that of Army personnel so that his luggage is not checked. Thereafter, he used to mix-up with the families travelling in the train to pose as a member of the family. After arriving Delhi, Selvam used to supply Ganja to differentdrug traffickers in Delhi who used to sell the same around educational institutes.
On 09/09/14, he had brought 110 kg Ganja from Andhra Pradesh and out of which he had supplied 20 kg Ganja to Rama Swamy who was also apprehended alongwith him.
Rama Swamy is also a native of Tamil Nadu. His father was a Railway employee. After the demise of his father and to earn his livelihood, Rama Swamy was indulged in bootlegging. He is active Bad Character of PS Subzi Mandi. He is involved in as many as eight criminal cases under Excise Actand NDPS Act. Rama Swamy has started selling Ganja around North Campus. Majority of their customers are youth including students.
Further investigation of the case is in progress.
