DELHI POLICE ARRESTS BROTHER INVOLVED IN MURDER OF HIS SISTER WITHIN 8 HOURS
- Brother involved in murder of his sister arrested within 8 hours.

With the arrest of accused Manjit Singh, age 50 years r/o Punjabi Mohalla, Chhatarpur Village, New Delhi, the police team of PS Mehrauli, South District has solved a sensational murder case of a lady and recovered arms used in commission of crime.
Brief facts :
On 27.09.16 at about 9.50 PM, PCR Call was received at PS Mehrauli wherein the called informed that “my brother has shot at my sister”. Inspr. Vikramjit Singh Virk, SHO/Mehrauli along with staff reached at the spot immediately and found that injured lady had already been shifted to Safdarjung Hospital by the family members. On reaching the hospital, it was revealed that injured Bimla d/o Dalbir Singh r/o Punjabi Mohalla, Chhatarpur Village, New Delhi had sustained bullet injuries on her chin and head and she was declared brought dead by the doctors. On the statement of Sh. Santokh Singh (brother of deceased) a case vide FIR No. 1582/16 u/s 302/307 IPC & 27 Arm Act was registered at PS Mehrauli and investigation taken up.
Investigation :
During investigation, Sh. Santokh Singh disclosed that on 27.9.16, at about 9 PM, he along with his 3 sisters, father and neighbour were sitting in the lawn of their house. At the same time, his elder brother Manjit Singh came there and started abusing them. When his elder sister Bimla objected to his behaviour, Manjit Singh went to his room, whipped out a revolver and fired at his sister Bimla. Thereafter, Manjit Singh fired at other family members but they escaped unhurt. During further investigation, it was revealed that Dalbir Singh has 6 sons and 5 daughters and a property dispute was going on between the brothers and sisters.
In order to arrest the accused Manjit Singh, a police team consisting of SI Sanjay Sharma, SI Anand, HC Manoj, Ct Dinesh, Ct. Pradeep and Ct Sandeep led by Inspr. Vikramjit Singh Virk, SHO/Mehrauli under the supervision of Sh. Jimmy Chiram, ACP/Mehrauli was formed. The police team conducted intensive hunt in Village Chandan Holla and his possible hideouts to trace absconding Manjit Singh but he was not traced. The police team conducted local enquiries and deployed sources to get clues about the movement of accused Manjit Singh which revealed that Manjit Singh has left for his in-laws house in Rudrapur, Uttrakhand in an Innova car. Immediately, the police team was despatched for Rudrapur and after intensive hunt accused Manjit Singh was traced and arrested from Bajpur City while he was on way to Rudrapur. On search, weapon used in commission of crime was recovered from his possession.
Interrogation :
During interrogation, accused Manjit Singh disclosed that he had planned to escape to Nepal to avoid his catch by police after dropping his wife at his in-laws’ house.
Recovery :
- Revolver used in commission of crime.
