AIIA encourages start-ups under MoA

Delhi: In line with the Central Government’s initiative to support start-ups, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush, is taking several initiatives, one such initiative is the Smart India Hackathon (SIH).

Smart India Hackathon is a nationwide initiative by the Ministry of Education and AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education). The motive of the SIH is to provide students with a platform to solve some of the pressing problems faced in our daily lives, thus inculcating a culture of product innovation and a problem-solving mindset.

Ministry of Ayush has been a premier partner in SIH since its inception in 2017 and All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi is the nodal agency from the Ministry of Ayush. AIIA had given six problem statements for SIH 2022, held in Kerala last year for the Ministry of Ayush. Now, AIIA  would be taking these solutions further to the development stage and finally becoming a product. AIIA is supporting financially Rs 3 lakhs to each team through respective colleges. It is hoped that the projects will be completed within six months.  

In continuation with this, as a formal procedure, AIIA signed an MoU with SIH winning teams college. AIIA recently signed an MoU with MEPCO SCHLENK ENGINEERING COLLEGE, Sivakasi, Tamilnadu, PSNA College of Engineering and Technology, Kothandaraman and SKCET College Kuniyamuthur, Tamil Nadu.

Prof. Tanuja Nesari, Director of AIIA gave her concluding remarks that the Ministry of Ayush and AIIA are committed to synergising technology with Traditional medicine. AIIA through its incubation centre – iCAINE is committed to supporting grassroots innovations and amalgamating academia with entrepreneurship.
