National General Secretary of Shri. Biswambhar Basu while addressing said that his movement is not against the government but against the commission given to the ration dealer regarding the policies of the government.

He says that despite continuous demand, the demand of ration dealers is not being accepted, so today his association again had to protest in large numbers at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

All India Fair Price Shop Dealers Federation has demanded a minimum monthly guarantee of Rs.50,000/-. For handling of rice, wheat and sugar and supply of edible oil and pulses through fair price shops, all due margins to all States may be cleared at the earliest. The demand also includes that the ‘West Bengal ration model’ of free distribution be implemented across the country. The supply of LPG gas cylinders should also be done through fair shops.

Addressing the huge gathering, Onkar Nath Jha, Working President of the Federation said, “The Prime Minister of the country received praise from all over the world for the distribution of food to 80 crore people across the country. When the government was implementing this scheme, it was only the shopkeepers like us who went to the people and distributed food and hence our demand from the government.

According to them, the commission being given to the ration dealer is insufficient. Despite repeated demands, no attention is being paid to the demand of the ration dealer from the government. Therefore, he was forced to reach Jantar Mantar and protested against the policies of the government regarding some of his demands.

Raising the issue of ration dealers, he said, ‘The biggest demand of ration dealers is that during Corona where even family members were staying away from each other. Even during that time, the biggest contribution in providing ration to the people was the ration dealer. Ration dealers delivered ration to the people without PPE kit, so the ration dealer should be declared as Corona warrior.

Ration dealers from Delhi, UP, MP, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Jammu Kashmir, Rajasthan, Haryana and all states from across the country participated in this movement.
