BELAN BRIGADE ORGANIZE CAMP AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AT LUDHIANA ,PUNJAB
Ludhiana– Belan Brigade an NGO against drug abuse has organized a camp to create awareness about the Anti Drug Abuse Day to be observed on June 26 every year. In this camp men and women took the pledge to fight the drug menace.
According to the UNODC, nearly 200 million people are using illicit drugs such as cannabis, cocaine, opiates and hallucinogens and sedative hypnotics worldwide. In December 1987 the UN General Assembly decided to observe June 26 as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The UN was determined to help create an International society free of drug abuse. It is an exercise under taken by the world community to sensitize the people in general and youth in particular, to the menace of drugs.
In this camp Belan Brigade’s national president Architect Anita Sharma said that there is no part of the world that is free from the curse of drugs addiction. Especially in India the major problem of drug addiction is found in Punjab state it is caught in the vicious circle of drug abuse and the strength of drug addicts are increasing very swiftly due to the lackadaisical behavior of government and politicians. Anita Sharma further said that they have written a letter to PM Sh. Narinder Modi and given a memorandum to BJP president Sh. Kamal Sharma against drugs abuse but there is no hearing, not a little change on drugs or liquor sale in the Punjab, the position of drugs menace as it was. As a result all drug addicts in the Punjab are leading miserable lives between life and death they become beggar, thief, burglar, rapist and dacoit. The epidemic of substance abuse in young generation has assumed alarming dimension in Punjab, charming culture values, increasing economics and dwindling supportive bonds are leading to initiation into substance use. It is time to save the new generation from the drugs abuse to create more and more awareness among them and teach how to avoid drugs abuse and what’s it is harmful consequences. It can be made possible if BJP break align with Akali Dal in Punjab.
In this camp some others dignitaries social worker Sat Pall Sharma, Parminder Papu and Dara Tank also delivered their views on the drugs abuse.
