BUSINESS WORLD DIGITAL INDIA SUMMIT 2015 YESTERDAY AT HOTEL OBEROI ONCE AGAIN EMPHASIZED THE DIRE NEED OF DIGITAL INDIA

New Delhi: By 2018, India is expected to have 250 million online shoppers, 200 million online villagers, and a $70 billion e-commerce industry. India will also have the largest youth population in the world – along with serious shortages in skills, infrastructure and electricity. All these trends have major implications for India’s growth, innovation capacity, global competitiveness, social safety and organisational practices. The need for good governance for India’s development is widely accepted. Information and communication technologies have a valuable potential to help Indian central and state governments deliver good governance to their constituents. Yet that potential remains largely untapped to date and there are various gaps hindering effective implementation of e-Governance in India.

Our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, envisages our Nation to be a Digital India – the dream project of the Government recently launched to fulfil the Hon’ble PM’s vision of achieving ‘Surajya’. Digital India is more than a dream, it’s a vision. A vision where our PM wishes for a Digital India where world looks to India for the next big idea. An India where high-speed digital highways unite the nation and 1.2 billion connected Indians drive innovation. Digital India will also enable investment of Rs. 4.5 lakh crore and ensure jobs for 18 lakh people.

BW|Businessworld is in accordance with the PM’s vision of transforming India to a connected knowledge economy and feel that India is on its way of becoming a leader in digital space and a hub of innovation. Keeping the core idea of laying a digital network, BW  hosted the 2nd Edition of Digital India Summit on 26th August, 2015 (10 a.m. onwards), at The Oberoi, New Delhi.

The event was a platform to discuss how Digital access is a catalytic agent that needs to be universally accessible and seeks to map new business models, and deliberate on how to unlock the potential to create a digital future. With a mission of moving from E-governance to M-governance, the conference sessions will also discuss India’s pivotal role in providing a shield to the world by giving innovative and credible solutions.
