CENTRAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION BOOKS IT COMMISSIONER (Appeals),NEW DELHI FOR ALLEGED DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), New Delhi; his wife and unknown others U/s 109 of IPC and 13(1)(e) r/w 13(2) of PC Act for possession of an alleged disproportionate assets of approximately Rs.4.28 crore.The premier investigation agency booked the IT Commissioner Haribansh Kumar Choudhary, a 1988 batch officer, his wife Anupama Choudhary and others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act.

It was alleged that the said officer (IRS:1988 Batch) while working as public servant in different capacities from the post of ACIT to Commissioner of Income Tax has amassed immovable and movable properties in his name & in the name of his family members which were disproportionate to the known sources of his income.
Searches were conducted today at 12 places, including Chennai, Surat, Saharsa(Bihar) and Delhi which led to recovery of incriminating documents related to information of properties and some companies in the name of his wife, mother & son. Searches were also conducted at the premises of some Chartered Accountants at Chennai and Surat who were allegedly associated with the said officer.
