Chandumajra slams centre for attacking Sikh genocide resolution
Chandigarh:
Prof Chandumajra recalled more than 3000 innocent Sikh men, women and children were killed in a designed attack on the members of the community in Delhi alone from November 1 to November 3, 1984 but the victims were still waiting for justice. He pointed out even former prime ministers including Atal Behari Vajpayee and Chandra Shekhar had condemned these killings as genocide.
Even Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on December 26, 2014 had referred to these killings as genocide as reported by the media, both print and visual, he added.
Prof Chandumajra said the Sikh community was now shocked over official reaction of the Modi government that was not only unfortunate but also highly condemnable. Despite being a smaller community, the Sikhs were now an important part of the global community. The Sikhs were playing effective role in some of the Canadian provinces. The Canadian authorities had taken this steps keeping in view the Sikh sentiments on this sensitive issue.
He said he would raise this issue in the Lok Sabha on Monday. A delegation of the Party MPs would also register protest with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
