DELHI GOVERNMENT CONSTITUTES DISTRICT TASK FORCE TO ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM OF CHILD LABOUR FROM THE CAPITAL

District Task Forces are carrying rescue operations to free the children engaged in illegal labour practice

Government committed to provide education to such children

 

Delhi, 12 June 2015

The Delhi Government has constituted District Task Forces under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioners (Revenue) in all the districts where the district administration is carrying regular rescue operations to eliminate the problem of child labour from the capital. This was informed by the Delhi Labour Minister Sh. Gopal Rai on the International Day against Child Labour. He also expressed his serious concern, over the employment of child labours, below the age of 14 years, in every sphere of life.

Shri Rai informed that the District Administration have lodged FIRs against the defaulting employers under the Child Labour  (P &R) Act, 1986, J.J. Act, Bonded Labour Act, 1976 and other relevant provisions of IPC. Not only this, an amount of Rs.20,000/- per child labour is also recovered from the defaulting employers as per the directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court for the rehabilitation of rescued child labour, he further added.

The Delhi Labour Minister warned the employers not to employ child labour to avoid the above actions against them and also to enable the child labour to complete his education as laid down under the Right to Education Act.
