DJB launches citywide intensive enforcement drive against illegal connections and wastage of water
1567 properties inspected and 411people prosecuted in a single day
Such an intensive enforcement drive has been launched in Delhi Jal Board for the first time
Delhi Jal Board has strengthened its efforts against illegal connections and wastage of water and has launched a citywide intensive enforcement drive. During the drive 1567 properties were inspected and 411 people were prosecuted in a single day. Apart from this, regular enforcement actions have also been intensified and 4577 properties were inspected and 1055 people have been issued challans in the last 3 months. The focus of the drive is that no person or establishment stealing water by means of illegal connection or misusing water shall be spared.
On 26th August, the DJB took up a day long special enforcement drive across the city to detect illegal connections and misuse of water. A large number of offenders were prosecuted under the Delhi Water Board Act 1998 for stealing water through illegal connections and also for misusing water. The teams were led by the Superintending Engineer of the area and comprised of all the Executive Engineers, Zonal Engineers and Junior Engineers.
As a significant measure, in a single day, 1567 properties were inspected and 411 offenders booked for illegal, unauthorised water connections and misuse of water. Such a drive has been launched in Delhi Jal Board for the first time and it is a record that in a single day, such large number of properties have been inspected and offenders have been booked. DJB intends to take up such drives every week.
