DELHI JAL BOARD PROMPTNESS RESTORES PIPELINE BURST AT PANKHA ROAD,SAVES WATER

DJB restores the pipeline burst at Pankha Road in record time
DJB officials work overnight to rectify the pipeline burst

Most of the DJB’s Water Treatment Plants are situated in North and Northwest Delhi, near the course of the river and the canal systems, which provides raw water. The pipelines carry water across the city for long distances and water is pumped at great pressure due to which the pipelines become vulnerable to leakages and bursts.

Delhi Jal Board is committed to providing an equitable water distribution management system to the residents of city. In this task, leakages in the water pipelines pose a major challenge. DJB has been continuously striving to minimize the water losses due to leakages and bursts in pipelines. In line with this, Delhi Jal Board officials worked continuously through the night to rectify the burst in the 1000 mm diameter pipeline in front of the DESU Colony at Pankha Road. This pipeline is providing water supply to the Cantonment Area, NDMC and R.K.Puram through the Palam Underground Reservoir (UGR). This pipeline provides access to potable water to around 10 lac people living in these areas. The pipeline which burst around 7 p.m. on 22.06.2015 was restored by replacing the PSC Pipe with better quality MS Pipe by 11 a.m. today, in record time.

At present, the water pipeline in front of the DESU Colony, Pankha Road is functioning normally.
