Delhi Metro to further boost commuter facilities;registers ridership of over 20 lakhs a record six times in June.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is taking a host of new measures to further upgrade its commuter facilitation amenities across the network.

In order to ensure smoother movement of the commuters, DMRC is going to install more than 200 new Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) Gates at different Metro stations. In addition, five new lifts have also been installed at some Metro stations.

The new AFC gates are slated to come up at important Metro stations of the network such as Kashmere Gate, NOIDA City Centre, NOIDA Sector 15, Dilshad Garden, Laxmi Nagar etc. These gates will help the commuters to quickly enter and exit from the Metro stations.

The new lifts have been installed at the Patel Nagar, Chawri Bazar, Jasola and Vaishali Metro stations. Two lifts have been installed at Chawri Bazar, which is the deepest station of the network and therefore, the commuters will be immensely benefited by these lifts.

Apart from these measures, the exit gate leading to New Delhi Railway station of the New Delhi Metro station has been redesigned to make the movement of commuters smooth and avoid overcrowding. An additional Customer Care Centre (CCC) has been constructed complete with a segregated exit block consisting of nine AFC gates. The number of token counters has also been increased from 17 to 20.
