DELHI POLICE SPL CELL RECOVERS 4KG FINE HEROIN ARRESTS 4 INCLUDING KINGPIN SAMIR MALLIK

  • Four key members of interstate narcotic drug cartel nabbed.
  • Kingpin Samir Mallik also arrested from West Bengal.
  • 4 kg fine quality heroin recovered from arrested persons.
  • International value of recovered heroin is Rs. 16 Crores.

A team of Special Cell/Northern Range led by Insp. Attar Singh and supervised by Sh. Nishant Gupta, ACP has arrested four key members of an interstate narcotic drug cartel including its kingpin. The arrested drug suppliers are namely (1) Ganesh Haldhar  (2) Manik Biswas (3) Johri and (4) Samir Mallik.Four kg fine quality heroin has been recovered from the possession of arrested drug suppliers. Five mobile handsets with multiple SIM cards used in drug trafficking have also been recovered. International value of recovered heroin is more than Rs 16 crores.

 

Operation

Inspector Attar Singh had information about drug trafficking activities of this syndicate for last four months. Surveillance was mounted on the movements of members of this drug cartel and requisite intelligence was collected in this regard. Both secret sources and electronic surveillance was deployed to gather more information in this regard. During surveillance, it was revealed that heroin is being brought from West Bengal to Bareilly, UP and Delhi. Painstaking efforts of more than four months resulted in identifying of members of this syndicate.

 

On 23-06-2016, SI Sandeep Kumar received a tip off regarding delivery of a big consignment of heroin near Gokalpuri Flyover in Delhi. A raiding party led by SI Sandeep Kumar and consisting of SI Jeetendra Tiwari, ASI Sanjay, HC Suresh and others was formed and a trap was laid beneath Gokalpuri Flyover where accused Ganesh Haldhar and Manik Biswas arrived at about 07:45 PM. The end receiver, Johri r/o Bareily, arrived 10 minutes thereafter and received a packet of 2 kg heroin from Ganesh Haldhar. Just after the exchange of the contraband, all the three were nabbed by the team. During their search total 4 kgs heroin was recovered, 2 kg each from receiver and suppliers. A case under NDPS Act has been registered at PS Special Cell, Lodhi Colony, New Delhi.

 

Interrogation:

The arrested trio was subjected to sustained interrogation. Accused Ganesh Haldhar and Manik Biswas revealed that Samir was the main kingpin of the drug cartel, who is also a distant relative of both the accused. They further revealed that deliver the consignment heroin to various receivers as per the directions of Samir. Both further told that Samir gave them 4 kg heroin, which was to be delivered in Delhi including Johri. Both told that they were working as carriers of heroin for Samir for last 05 years. They also told that Samir procured the supply of heroin from a drug supplier of Malda in West Bengal. They used to transport heroin from West Bengal to Delhi through secret cavity created in the bottom of their bag. The money is usually paid within few hours of delivery of consignment.

 

Accused Johri r/o Bareily disclosed that due to his severe poverty he was lured to step in the field of drug trafficking. Till three years back, he used to sell heroin in local markets of Uttar Pradesh but thereafter he developed his interstate network and started supplying heroin to bigger drug peddlers in Delhi-NCR region. He told that he used to receive consignments of heroin from West Bengal and those were delivered to fixed ‘customers’ in Delhi-NCR. He told that most of the deals took place through phone calls and he never tried to enquire more about his ‘customers’. He told that in the last couple of years the demand of fine quality heroin has gone up steeply in Delhi-NCR as there is a good customer base who are ready pay for the contraband.

 

A team led by SI Sandeep was sent to West Bengal to arrest the kingpin and main supplier of this syndicate. Several raids were conducted at various hideouts in district Birbhum, West Bengal and finally Samir Mallik was arrested on 26-06-2016 from West Bengal. He told that he had been indulging in supply of heroin in Bareilly and Delhi-NCR for last 10 years. He used to get supply of heroin from Risawul of Malda, West Bengal. Risawul was introduced to him by one Kishore, a notorious drug supplier of the area, who is presently in Jail. He further disclosed that heroin is brought from Malda as there are large illegal cultivation of opium in the area surrounding Kaalia Chowk in Malda District. This illicit opium is used to prepare heroin which is being pushed further north of India towards Delhi-NCR.

It is noteworthy that Malda was recently in news due to wide-spread riots, which were alleged to be well-planned to destroy the records of drug mafia kept at Kaliachak Police Station. Malda is also infamous in international markets as “India’s own Afghanistan in West Bengal”. Malda has become an epicenter of illegal drug trade and a counterfeit currency racket because of its strategic location along the international border. It is alleged that a large portion of this drug money goes into buying sophisticated weapons smuggled through the porous Bangladesh border.

 

Further investigation of the case is in progress.
