Delhi Rural Development Board gave clearance to 315 schemes: Shri Gopal Rai

- To ensure development in villages in the capital, the Delhi Rural Development Board on today gave clearance to 315 schemes, including for improving roads, drains , water body, Community Centre, park , Cremation Centre, Play Ground etc. to be implemented in the Rural Villages at a cost of Rs 480.99 Crore. The decision was taken in a meeting of the Rural Development Board after which the Chairman of the Board and Minister of Development, Shri Gopal Rai said the Government will take all necessary steps to improve the condition of roads, parks, small drains and multipurpose community halls as well to ensure supply of water and electricity in all rural areas.
- Apart from providing basic amenities to the people of Delhi living in urban areas, the government is committed to provide facilities to the people living in rural areas also. He said the Board has successfully achieved its objectives,” Roads which are not being developed will be taken care of on urgent basis. “We cannot ignore the problems of the people living here,” Shri Rai said.
- On this occasion Minister Social Welfare, Sh. Sandeep Kumar,14 MLAs, Shri K K Sharma , Chief Secretary , Elected representatives from MCD, Senior Officers of Development Department, Irrigation & Flood Control Department , MCD, Delhi Jal Board etc were also present.
Sh. Gopal Rai informed that following developmental works/projects will be taken up by the DRDB under its main plan scheme- Integrated Development of Rural Village (RDRV)
- Construction/Repair of approach roads/Link roads/village roads.
- Construction of drainage facility mainly to protect from flooding.
- Development of cremation grounds, parks, playgrounds, vyayamshalsas, etc.
- Development of ponds/water bodies.
- Other need based works like drinking water facility, street light etc.
- These developmental works/Projects of the RD Department are executed through the Government Agencies/Department including Irrigation and Flood Control Department (Main Executing Agency), North DMC, South DMC and Delhi Jal Board ect. Mainly on the Gram sabha lands in rural village.
Main Agenda points for the D.R.D.B. meeting:
To introduce the new member of the D.R.D.B. about the back ground and mandate/functioning of the Department/Board.
To present the progress and status of the R.D. works sanctioned in 2014-15 by the Rural Development Department.
To approve the works as recommended by various MPs/MLAs for their respective area
Selecting/prioritizing the projects for execution from the pending approved projects based on the last years work plan/certain nes criteria decided by the D.R.D.B. or by way of newly prepared projects.
Approval of the Scheme for improvement and removal of garbage/silt from the water body at Village Aya Nagar in Mehrauli.
To plan for maintenance of the works already completed, it was decided to hold regular meetings of the Board to ensure comprehensive development of villages.
