Desperate Robber arrested after encounter
New Delhi: The staff of PS Jagat Puri arrested one desperate robber Dhananjay @ Dhiraj @ Pathan, involved in 28 criminal cases, after encounter.
Incident
Due to the increasing number of snatchings and robberies, additional pickets were placed in the East Distt. to nab the criminals. On 28.04.2014, Ct. Arvind and Ct. Shyam noticed two suspicious persons on a pulsar motorcycle, who were coming from Anand Vihar side. They signaled to stop them for checking. Instead, they tried to flee to avoid the checking. Ct. Arvind and Ct. Shyam chased them on their motorcycle and hit their motorcycle at Balmiki Chowk. The accused as well as policemen fell on the road. The accused aimed their pistols at Ct. Ct. Arvind and Ct. Shyam and warned them to stick out of their way otherwise they would shoot them. But it couldn’t deter them. The accused fired three shots on them. The bullets hit two passerby and injured them on hand and thigh. Ct. Arvind also fired a shot in an attempt to stop the accused but the bulled didn’t hit the accused. They succeeded in nabbing Dhananjay @ Dhiraj @ Pathan. However, the second accused took advantage of the chaos and run away. A criminal case was registered against the accused at PS Jagat Puri.
Modus Operandi :-
The accused used to snatch the heavy chains either from females or males. In case of any resistance they brandish their pistols and didn’t hesitate to fire. Sometimes they committed robberies/snatching in a group of four members. The robbers on one motorcycle committed the crime and the second motorcycle followed them to help them in fleeing from the spot in case of any scuffle or resistance from public or police.
Recoveries :-
One country made pistol, two cartridges and one stolen motorcycle were recovered from the accused.
Profile of the accused
Dhananjay @ Dhiraj @ Pathan s/o Nandu r/o Sunder Nagari, Delhi. He is a school dropout after 5th standard. He was earlier involved in 28 criminal cases.
