DJB HOLDS 119TH BOARD MEETING FOCUSSING ON REHABILITATION OF ITS EXISTING WATER AND WASTEWATER INFRASTRUCTURE

Chaired by Sh. Rajendra Kumar, Secretary, Department of Urban Development, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, the 119th Board meeting of the Delhi Jal Board was held on 26th December 2014. Sh. S.N. Sahai, Divisional Commissioner, presently holding charge as CEO, DJB and other Senior members of the Board were also present at the meeting. In the meeting, a number of important projects were discussed and approved. The approved projects are in consonance with the DJB’s ongoing efforts to improve its performance in critical areas in order to deliver increasingly efficient and high-quality services.
Providing and laying of sewer line in U/A colonies under Dwarka Constituency

In line with the DJB’s objective to provide sewerage facilities in all the unsewered areas of Delhi, the Board accorded approval for providing and laying of sewer lines of varying sizes in unauthorized colonies of F & D Block Mahaveer Enclave, Kailash Puri Extension, Sagarpur, Durga Park and adjoining areas in Dwarka Constituency at an estimated total cost of Rs. 58.92 Crores. This work will ensure that the residents of these colonies get better hygienic conditions and through sewerage network, sewage generated in these colonies will be carried to the STP for treatment which will contribute to abatement of pollution in the river Yamuna.
Purchase of Poly Aluminium Chloride

Delhi Jal Board ensures the quality of drinking water at its Water Treatment Plants by employing the use of efficient Water Treatment technology and high-quality disinfectants/coagulants. The Board accorded administrative approval for purchase of a quantity of 15,000 MT of Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) at an estimated total cost of Rs. 17.28 Crores.

10 % annual increase in Water Tariff w.e.f. 1st January 2015

The Board decided that the effective date of implementation of the annual increase of 10% in the Water Tariff be deferred to the next Board meeting.
