DMRC CAUSES DAMAGE TO DJB TRANSMISSION MAIN, AFFECTING WATER SUPPLY

NEW DELHI:The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, while carrying out its piling work near the Najafgarh Nallah, opposite the ESI Hospital, Basai Darapur, Ring Road, damaged the 1100 mm diameter, West Delhi Transmission Main.

As a result of the damage caused due to the carelessness on the part of DMRC,DJB had to shut down the Water Main emanating from its Haiderpur Water Treatment Plant. Consequently, there was a disruption in the water supply which caused a lot of inconvenience to the customers of Delhi Jal Board.

The drinking water supply to the residents of Raja Garden and its adjoining areas remained affected in the evening of 24.04.2014 and also on the morning of 25.04.2014.

The Delhi Jal Board authorities have taken up the case against DMRC and have filed an FIR with the Rajouri Garden Police Station, in concern with this carelessness showed by DMRC. This is not the first time where piling work undertaken by DMRC has caused damage to DJB facilities.
