MILD COVID SYMPTOMS UNATTENDED PROVES COSTLY FOR MANY
Sir Ganga Ram Hospital off late has been receiving patients who did not pay attention to mild symptoms of Covid and did not get themselves tested. They took it lightly, thinking that the symptoms will resolve on its own
These patients rushed to the hospital when they started having moderate to major complications of Covid. The complications included: high grade fever severe body and muscle aches, stroke, leg thrombosis, lung fibrosis and cardiac involvement.
According to Dr Atul Kakar, Vice Chairperson, Department of Internal Medicine, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in last month alone we have treated close to 30 patients of Covid Induced moderate to major complications with no test of Covid being done. Covid antibody test in all these patients was found to be positive.
These patients came with involvement of Lungs, Nervous system, Heart and Blood Vessels. Many patients who had lung involvement required oxygen term supplementation and few special medications.
Severity of these diseases could have been limited if early testing and treatment would have been done
“People with any of the mild symptoms of Covid should not take it lightly. Covid is a self.limiting disease, but testing and supervision is essential in all patients specially elderly patients or patients who are immune compromised or have pre existing diseases like diabetes. cancers, lung or kidney diseases. different people in different ways. Most of the infected people will develop mild to
moderate illness and recover with home isolation
Most common symptoms of Covid are, fever, dry cough and tiredness. Other symptoms include aches and pains, sore throat, diarrhoea, conjunctivitis, headache, loss of taste or smell. a rash on the skin or discolouration of fingers or toes Best way to avoid Covid is by social distancing, wearing masks and hand washing
