ENRICH YOUR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE POLICE WELFARE SOCIETY – A SOCIETY MANAGED BY DELHI POLICE
The Police Families Welfare Society (PFWS) is a society working under the aegis of welfare unit of Delhi Police that endeavors to meet physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual and financial needs for the biggest metropolitan police force. Year 2016 had been a memorable year for PFWS as many milestones have been achieved. In the year 2017 with the new vision of the new President, Smt. Suchana Patnaik – PFWS is determined to carry the legacy to further heights. The PFWS under the able leadership of President, Smt. Suchana Patnaik of the society planned a series of activities during the Delhi Police week celebrations from 16/02/2017 to 22/02/2017.
Mrs. Suchana Patnaik felt that there is a dire need to understand and appreciate the great work and technology which our police forces uses for the safety, security of our society. Dr. Sushi Singh, Vice President, PFWS implemented this idea by taking 3 messages across the 10 welfare centres catering police colonies of 10 different districts. The messages were spread across in very creative and innovative ways. First message was to understand, appreciate and adopt the app of Delhi Police & for this, 12 mobile apps were depicted through flash mobs, which were presented by our own women and children of colonies. Second effective message through powerful demo of self defence techniques and its use by all age groups was to adopt self defence practices as responsible citizen of the society. 3rd clear message was through effective health checkup camps all across to let families appreciate that our health is our responsibility and a healthy family only can produce an empowered society with a very competent police force.
On 16th February, 2017 at the Annual Raising Day Parade at New Police Line Kingsway Camp a grand PFWS stall was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Hon’ble Sh. Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Minister of State (Home), GOI in the presence of Sh. Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi and others senior members of the society and officials. A large variety of consumable items/articles prepared by members of the police families, at different Welfare Centers were displayed at various counters ranging from handicrafts, condiments, dresses and bonsai plants. A giant screen displayed the activities undertaken during the last year apart from counters for sales and display counters for yoga literature and annual magazine of Society namely “Koshish ek Asha”. An encouraging sale of products amounted to worth Rs. 10,000/-.
Followed by this a series of elaborate functions 16th – 23rd February, 2017 were graced by the hon’ble President of the Society apart from vice Presidents and team leaders i.e wives of seniors police officials who took a keen interest in meticulous planning and execution of the programme, assisted by Incharge Welfare centers and local police officials.
This innovative step by the President & Vice President PFWS, of involving the families & general public in the celebrations of DELHI POLICE WEEK will spearhead the momentum of welfare activities while spreading awareness about schemes and families for general public run by DELHI POLICE.
