The foundation stone of Kudgi Super thermal Power Project of NTPC.....

The foundation stone of Kudgi Super thermal Power Project of NTPC was laid  by  Shri Sushilkumar Shinde, Union Minister of Power today in Bijapur District of Karnataka. Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda , Chief Minister of Karnataka, Dr. M. Veerappa Moily, Union Minister of Corporate Affairs, Shri K. C. Venugopal, Union Minister of State for Power and other dignitaries  of the State and the Region were  present on this historic occasion.

Kudgi and Solapur Destined to become Power Hubs with arrival of NTPC Projects

With the arrival of NTPC, the premier Power company in the country to set up power projects at Kudgi in Karnataka and Solapur  in Maharashtra, both the places are destined to become power and industrial hubs of the Nation this was stated by Shri Sushilkumar Shinde , Union Minister of Power today while laying the foundation stone of stage I, 3x 800 MW  Kudgi Super Thermal Power Project of NTPC  in Bijapur District of Karnataka . Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda , Chief Minister of Karnataka, Dr. M. Veerappa Moily, Union Minister of Corporate Affairs  and Shri K. C. Venugopal, Union Minister of State for Power, were present with him on the occasion.

 

Speaking on the occasion Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda , Chief Minister of Karnataka said that Energy sector is the top priority of his government  and assured to look into the coal linkages for the project.

 

In his address Dr. M. Veerappa Moily, Union Minister of Corporate Affairs  said that the govt. both at center and state is supportive of energy demands of the country and appreciated the role of NTPC in meeting the country’s power requirement through its projects and also Rajiv Gandhi  Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojna ( RGGVY).

 

Shri K. C. Venugopal, Union Minister of State for Power said that super critical technology to be used in the project shall generate clean power and shall go a long way in the growth of the country.

 

Kudgi shall be the  first 800 MW Super Critical Project  of NTPC and  the power  generated from project will be given to Southern States of  Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

 

Later in the day Shri Shinde flagged off the Main Plant Civil Works of Solapur Thermal Power Project ( 2X 660MW) and Dedicated the Solapur Power & industrial Training institute (SPITI)to the Nation. He also inaugurated commencement of civil works of SPITI Residential Complex in Solapur. The  SPITI shall be state of the art ITI with workshops for  welding, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic Trades, Computer lab and Drawing Hall.  The institute shall enhance the quality of vocational education in the area and ensure better employability of local youth.

In his address Shri Arup Roy Choudhury , CMD, NTPC said NTPC is committed  to generate quality power to the nation through State of the art power stations .

NTPC is India’s largest power utility , playing a major role in meeting the power needs of the country and contributing to its economic and social development.  The present installed capacity of NTPC (including 4364 MW through JVs) is 38014 MW comprising of 16 coal based stations, 7 combines cycle gas/ liquid fuel based stations and 7 JV stations( 6 coal based and 1 gas based).NTPC plans to become a 1,28,000 MW company by 2032.
