HM Amit Shah says time bound steps will be taken for welfare of police personnel

Police Commemoration Day

Home Minister Amit Shah has
said the country is moving
ahead on the path of
progress as police personnel
are doing their duty with
responsibility. He said, be it
border security, fighting
against terrorism and
Naxalism, the police have a
pivotal role in maintaining
peace and law and order in
the country. Mr Shah was
speaking at a function in New
Delhi, after paying tribute to
martyred police personnel, on
the occasion of Police
Commemoration Day at
National Police Memorial.

The Home Minister said, the
government will undertake
time-bound steps to ensure
that good working

family welfare-related
concerns of police personnel
are addressed. He said, the
police are performing an
onerous task as against the

Shah said, about 90 per cent
of the police personnel are
rendering their duties of over
12 hours each day and about

even take a weekly off. The
Minister said, so far, over 35
thousand police personnel
have lost their lives in the line
