Innaugration of VIHAAN at Marwah Studio
September 7,2016: The enrichment and empowerment of ‘Persons with Disabilities’ is is one of the key elements into making a society INCLUSIVE and successful as it taps into all its potentials and brings out the best. The first step towards achieving this is AWARENESS and EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES.
VIHAAN 2016 is an innitiative by VARIJA LIFE under Varija Bajaj and SHANKARA under Sujatha Narayannswami .Scheduled to be held in December 2016, it will be India’s first Holistic festival which will focus on bringing together the diverse population, cultures and abilities together. The sole aim is to create a society which is AWARE, SENSITIVE and provides equal opportunities to the differently-abled. This will be done by motivating them to be a productive part in the development and betterment of skills, making them active economic agents, reaping the benefits of self-employment and jobs.
VIHAAN 2016 was unveiled on 7th September with its first youth orientation at MARWAH Studio, Film City, Noida addressing students of Mass Communication, Fashion Designing and Film Making. The expert panel comprised of Dr.Uma Tuli of Amarjyoti Trust, Fashion Designer Varija Bajaj, Dr.Anita Kaul-HOD Fetal Medicine Apollo Hospital,Rakesh Dhasmana,CEO AIMS Media and Sushil Bharti,CEO Radio Noida. The session was moderated and convened by Sujatha Narayanswami of Shankara.
The session focused on the youth with a strong message of inclusion conveyed through a street playpresented by students of Amarjyoti and short films by students of Marwah Studio.There was a special singing performance by Benzi who is an autistic child.The performance was encouraged by the audience with a standing ovation.
A series of 15 such pre events/ panel discussions are scheduled in various colleges by eminent experts to sensitize the youth towards the needs of the differently-abled over next 2 months.The next panel discussion is scheduled at International Polytechnic for Women, and Sanjana Kalra,Director of IPW was present to support the cause.
