LARGE SCALE PROMOTIONS IN ALL RANKS OF DELHI POLICE TO IMPROVE THE MORALE AND PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

In order to meet the prolonged pending demands of police personnel for the improvement in their promotional prospects, the Police Headquarters, in the current financial year (w.e.f. 1.4.2016 to till date) has issued promotions in almost all the ranks of Delhi Police, which in turn, will improve the morale and professional standard of the police force.  There has been stagnation in the lower ranks of police personnel for sometime and police constables, who had put in 27/28 years of service, had not got the opportunity to get their promotion to the rank of Head Constable.  Similarly, there was some stagnation in the other ranks as well.  This was adversely affecting the morale of the police force.

The Commissioner of Police in a review meeting held with the top senior officers had passed directions to expedite promotions at all levels.  In accordance with the directions of the Commissioner of Police, the Police Headquarters has undertaken a massive exercise of improving the promotional prospects of all the ranks.  In the current financial year, promotions to 4332 police personnel of Delhi Police have been accorded in the various ranks.  The break-up of the same is as under:-

The promotions in other cadres/units have also been streamlined. These promotions will help in providing additional Investigating Officers to the Districts and other investigating units.  It will also reduce the promotional backlogs which have happened over a period of time.
