Module of Cheats who lured gullible unemployed youths with the offer of arranging lucrative job at IGIA Terminal-3, busted.

With the arrest of accused persons viz. Akshay Rana, aged-24 years, Amit, aged-22 years and one lady, police personnel of IGIA Unit succeeded in cracking a case of cheating.

Gist of Case: On 28/06/2016, three persons whose identities revealed as Yogesh, Parveen and Vipin were present in the departure forecourt of IGI Airport for joining their duties and intending to enter the Airport. They were intercepted by CISF and handed over PS IGI and all the three were put on sustained interrogation. Startling facts emerged that all the three persons were sent by one Akshay Rana for their new jobs at the airport, who also provided fake  Airport Entry passes to them. Upon this, a case vide FIR No. 243/16 u/s 420/168/120B IPC was registered at PS IGIA and investigation was taken up in right earnest.

Operation: Sensing the gravity of the case, a dedicated team comprising of Inspr. Satish Malik, SHO/IGI Airport, SI Mahesh under the Supervision of Sh. Abhirup Banerjee, ACP/IGIA and overall supervision & guidance of the undersigned was constituted for early breakthrough.

During interrogation, trio revealed the name of one Akshay Rana. Consequently investigation zeroed in on Akshay Rana, his arrest was affected accordingly. He was subjected to sustained interrogation who spilled the beans that he is currently unemployed. In order to live a lavish life style, he needed extra money as his earning could not finance his luxuries i.e. fond of costly wine, taking meals in big hotels with girlfriends etc. thus he resorted to crime along with his girlfriend.

Since the unemployed youths were the soft targets, they were lured on the pretext of providing lucrative jobs at airport and were charged hefty amounts. His girlfriend used to impart training to these unemployed youths posing as HR member of one of the renowned Airlines.

Pursuant to the confession of the accused, his girlfriend has also been arrested in the case. A fake airport entry pass has also been recovered from her possession. The dedicated team continued its efforts, as a result co-accused Amit has also been arrested in this case. Amit was the conduit between unemployed youths and accused Akshay Rana.

 

 

Recovery:

  • Three fake airport entry passes of GMR.
  • One fake airport entry pass of Air India.

 

The investigation of the case is in progress. Investigation from different angles is under way to rule out involvement of other persons. The staff involved in this good work will be rewarded suitably.
