NLC observes National Day of Mentally Challenged

The National Day of Mentally Challenged was celebrated at NLC Learning & Development Centre, on 29.03.2016 by Sneha Opportunity Services (SOS), a society functioning under the aegis of NLC. Under the benevolent leadership of Smt. Yogamaya Acharya, the SOS is providing special education, medical attention and vocational training to 96 Special  Children.

Shri  Sarat Kumar Acharya , CMD, NLC, the Chief Guest of the function in his address   He informed  that for  an inclusive society the Special children are need to be   treated with respect like all other citizens of the world, who have their  right to fullfill their aspiration. He happily  informed that, an exclusive recruitment drive was carried out by NLC in which 115 differently abled persons (Dibyangs)  with a great potential source have joined in the NLC family.

Smt. Yogamaya Acharya , the President of SOS, in her Presidential address thanked NLC Management for the unstinted support for the Sneha School. She cheerfully informed that,four special children  among who nurtured at SOS, one girl and three boys were married  and  blessed with normal children.

Sneha Opportunity Services has been functioning since 1988 with a vision to educate these differently-abled children.  She highlighted the talents of these special children in singing, acting, making of handicrafts and painting.

Functional Directors,  Shri Rakesh Kumar, Shri.  SubirDas, and  Shri V .Thangapandian participated in the function.

A pledge pertaining to the rights of the mentally challenged children was administered by the Executive Committee members of SOS, Dr. K. Janardhan CGS/ NLC and   Shri S.Madhivanan GM/Finanace in English and Tamil respectively.

Shri,N. Jyothi Kumar,General  Secretary, Sneha Opportunity School presented the Annual report and explained in detail about the training programmes to the students.

Smt. Kanchan Rakesh Kumar,Smt Sudeshna Das,  Smt. Devahi Thangapandian and Smt. Indu Shiv Raj Singh also participated in the function.  Prizes were distributed to the teachers, vocational trainers, staff and students of the school.

The function ended with a cultural programme in which the Sneha children gave a scintillating performance and won the hearts of all the audience.
