PNB celebrated 66th Independence day at their H.O ,Flag unfurled by CMD,K R KAMATH

New Delhi, Aug 16 : On the momentous occasion of the 66th Anniversary of our Independence, the National Flag was unfurled by K.R. Kamath, Chairman & Managing Director of  Punjab National Bank to the accompaniment of National Anthem and Rashtriya Salute at  their Corporate Head Office Building, Bhikhaiji Cama Place, New Delhi. A large number of senior officers, staff members of the bank and their families attended the function. After the unfurling of the tricolour, Executive Directors of the bank administered the National Pledge to all present.

Addressing the gathering, Kamath said that we all must realize how precious is the freedom that we enjoy today thanks to the sacrifices made by great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallab Bhai Patel, Dr. Ambedkar and our founder Lala Lajpat Rai.  He said that we should, for a moment, stop and imagine as to what our lives  would have been without this freedom. We thus owe it to them and must respect and preserve the freedom that we have inherited.

Quoting from the National Pledge, he said just as we should respect and honour our parents, teachers and elders, we in the service industry, must also respect and honour our esteemed customers. They are the backbone our institution

Taking the analogy of the National Flag, he likened the three pronged strategy that the bank has devised, viz strengthening credit growth, widening customer base by savings deposit mobilization and reducing NPA, to the tricolour of our national flag. He added that building a nation should start with building our institution. He said that the banking industry is going through the most challenging phase and we all must strive very hard to retain our lead. He wished PNB Parivar all success in their endeavour.

The function ended with National Anthem after which children released tricolour balloons in the air.
