PNB RANKS RUNNER UP IN 12TH ALL INDIA GURU TEGH BAHADUR GOLD CUP HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

Mumbai: Punjab National Bank Hockey Team  has been runner up in 12th All India Guru Teg Bahadur Gold Cup Hockey Tournament played at Mahindra Stadium, Mumbai on 10th June, 2016. In the league matches PNB defeated Bhopal 11, Union Bank of India and CAG.  In the semi final PNB defeated Air India. In this tournament PNB Hockey player Sh.Rajwinder Singh was adjudged best full back of the Tournament and Mr. Banmali Xess adjudged best half of the tournament.

PNB continued in its efforts to promote sports and nurturing young talents as a part of CSR activity. The Bank has set up Hockey Academy in Sept.2002 for Junior Hockey players in the age group of 14-17 years.  Subsequently, in April 2004, the Bank also formed its senior Hockey team.

The senior players are employees of the Bank whereas the junior players are provided lodging, boarding and training facility by bank and are groomed as hockey players.
