POWERGRID POST A 20% INCREASE IN ITS NET PROFIT IN Q1 FOR THE FY 2105-16

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a ‘Navratna’ Company and the ‘Central Transmission Utility (CTU)’ of the country, has posted a net profit of ₹ 1367 crore for the first quarter of FY 2015-16 (April-June, 2015), an increase of 20% against ₹ 1137 crore reported during the corresponding quarter ended June 30, 2014.

Total Income (turnover) for first quarter (April-June, 2015), rose to ₹4788 crore, up by 17% from ₹4075 crore in the corresponding year-ago period.

On a standalone basis, POWERGRID had registered a net profit of ₹4979 crore on a turnover of ₹17,780 crore in the FY 2014 -15.

At present, POWERGRID is operating more than 117,600 ckt. kms. of transmission lines along with 197 Sub-stations and transforma­tion capacity of about 239,000 MVA. The average availability during the quarter was at 99.79%.
