SELF DEFENCE TRAINING OF MARRIED WOMEN HELD IN NORTH WEST DISTRICT ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN DAY.
New Delhi: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a Self Defense Training Programme was organized in North-West district under operation ‘Ab Nhi Hai Darna’ at Lal Bagh, Azadpur Delhi. As many as 150 married women between 18 to 40 years were imparted training of Self Defence techniques with the help of World Vision NGO. Techniques imparted to the participants include punches – upper, middle, lower, knife attack, and tiles breaking etc. The participants presented demo of the techniques which they learnt during training program. Demo of releasing from clutches of unscrupulous youths was appreciated by one and all. The participants were very enthusiastic and serious in learning the self defence techniques. Despite occupied with their household chores and domestic responsibilities they regularly attended the programme.
On sharing their feedback the participants expressed confidence and felt different in term of their safety after undergoing the self defense training. Incidents of crime against women has gone down drastically in Lal Bagh Area of PS Adarsh Nagar owing to the police-public interface by organizing Self Defence training programme. They were advised to keep rehearsing the techniques which they learnt during the camp.
Family members of participants including old women and children curiously witnessed as their family members were performing self defence techniques before their eyes. They enthusiastically cheered and clapped. Special thanks were extended to them for allowing their daughters-in-law/wives for taking self-defense training. The participants were given away the certificate on completion of training programme.
Besides the undersigned, Mrs. Amrutha Guguloth IPS, Addl. DCP North West District, Shri Anil Kumar, ACP/PG North West, SHO/Adarsh Nagar and representative of World Vision NGO were also present on the occasion.
