TWO MEMBERS OF MALDA BASED SYNDICATE, ARRESTED

A HUGE CONSIGNMENT OF FICNs RECOVERED

 

The team of Special Cell, Delhi has arrested two members of the Malda based syndicate, involved in pumping and circulating Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICNs) printed in Pakistan and infiltrated through Indo-Bangladesh border. Total FICNs of amounting to Rs. Three lakhs of the denomination of Rs. 1000/- and 500/-, were recovered from them.

 

OPERATION:

 

During the month of April, 2016 secret information was received from the reliable sources that a malda based syndicate is involved in pumping and circulating Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICNs) printed in Pakistan and infiltrated through Indo-Bangladesh border. To develop this information, a team was formed under the supervision of Inspr. Sanjay Dutt. On 19.06.16, on the basis of specific information, a raid was conducted near ISBT Anand Vihar, Delhi and two members of the above mentioned Malda based syndicate namely Vikas Kumar Sharma r/o Distt. Patiala, Punjab and Moti Lal Basak r/o Distt. Malda, West Bengal, were apprehended while they were exchanging a consignment of huge quantity of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICNs), of amounting of Rs. 3,00,000/- (Rs. Three Lakhs).  

 

DETAILS OF ACCUSED PERSONS:

RECOVERY:

  • Two wads of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICNs) of the denomination of Rs. 1000/- (total face value of Rs. 2,00,000/-), recovered from the accused Vikas Kumar Sharma, while two wads of FICNs of the  denomination of Rs. 500/- (Total face value of Rs. 1,00,000/-) were recovered from the accused Moti Lal Basak. As such, total FICNs of Rs. 3,00,000 were recovered from them.
  • One Hundai Verna Car in which the accused Vikas Kumar Sharma reached at the spot for taking the delivery of FICNs.

 

During the initial investigation of the case, it was revealed that the recovered FICNs were printed in Pakistan, and infiltrated in India through Indo-Bangladesh border.  The accused Moti Lal Basak has received the recovered FICNs from his mentors in District Malda, West Bengal.  He brought the FICNs to Delhi to deliver the same to the co-accused Vikas Kumar Sharma, who reached Delhi from Patiala, Punjab. Both the accused persons are in police custody and further investigation of the case is in progress.
