SWIFT RESPONSE BY RAILWAYS TO ON-BOARD CALL BY KIN OF SENIOR CITIZEN ON HELPLINE NO. 138 FOR ASSISTANCE WINS A BIG THANKYOU AND GOOD APPRECIATION ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Facilitating the rail passenger in every possible way is the forte of every serving railway personnel especially those in the front-line and passenger interface services. A  Facebook post by one Shri Pankaj Sharma on Rail Ministry Interface-RailMin expressing gratitude and deep appreciation of Railway team is a noteworthy record of swift response to passengers’ calls on Short-Code Helpline-138.

Shri Pankaj Sharma states that he was travelling with his elderly father by train from Chennai to Rameshwaram when his father got casually injured from the side berth. The AC attendant in charge advised him to call 138 helpline for first-aid help. The passenger was surprised to see a team of Railway personnel- 04 RPF staff accompanied by a Doctor, a pharmacist, help-staff along with an Officer waiting for the train at the next stopping station 10 minutes ahead of the journey. Shri Sharma states that the Doctor rushed to attend to the senior citizen without caring to remove his helmet, apparently because he was so focused on attending to the injured passenger and quite forgot to remove his helmet also.  The doctor provides bandages and all possible medical help. At the next station, 2 Mechanical engineers came to examine the berth and looked for technical faults of the locking system. The officers took the passengers’ feedback along with the photograph of the lock system and his elderly father.

Shri Pankaj Sharma states that the episode was both heart-warming and filled him with a sense of pride on Indian Railways. Shri Sharma concluded his post with a big thankyou and appreciation of the Indian Railways, Shri Narendra Modi and Shri Suresh Prabhu for the good work.
