TRAFFIC ADVISORY BY DELHI TRAFFIC POLICE FOR NEW YEAR EVE-2014

TRAFFIC ADVISORY – NEW YEAR EVE – 2014

                              

Delhi Traffic Police shall make elaborate arrangements for smooth flow and regulation of traffic on the eve of New Year, throughout the city. There will be well laid out arrangements for whole Delhi where such celebrations are being organized. However, special arrangements have been made for areas in vicinity of Connaught Place New Delhi.

 

Areas where special arrangements have been made include Saket, M-Block Market Greater Kailash, Chirag Delhi, New Friends Colony, Defence Colony, South-Extn, Mehrauli, Aya Nagar Border, Khan Pur, Nehru Place near Eros Hotel, Near Govid Puri Metro Station, Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj, Kapashera, Dwarka, Rajouri Garden, Netaji Subash Place, Rohini, Pitampura, Ashok Vihar, G.T. Karnal Road, Karkardooma, Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar, Mayur Vihar Ph-II,

 

Following restrictions have been envisaged to be imposed from 7.00 P.M. onwards on 31.12.2013 in the vicinity of Connaught Place till the conclusion of New Year Celebrations.  It will be applicable to all private and public transport vehicles.

 

1.    No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed towards Connaught Place beyond (i) R/A Mandi House (ii) R/A Bengali Market (iii) North foot of Ranjit Singh Flyover (iv) Minto Road – Deen Dayal Upadhaya Marg crossing (v) Chelmsford Road near Munje Chowk (New Delhi Rly. Station) (vi) R.K. Ashram Marg-Chitragupta Marg Crossing (vii) R/A Gole Market (viii) R/A G.P.O., New Delhi (viii) Patel Chowk (ix) Kasturba Gandhi Road – Ferozshah Road Crossing (x) Jai Singh Road-Bangla Sahib Lane.

 

2.    No vehicular traffic shall be allowed in inner, middle or outer circle of Connaught Place.

 

SUGGESTED ROUTES

 

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes available for North – South and East – West directions.

 

For North-South movement– Mathura Road- Ring Road- Bahadurshah Zafar Marg.  Mother Teresa Crescent Road – Rani Jhansi Marg will also be available for North-South.

 

For East – West Movement – ‘C’ Hexagon- Akbar Road- Mother Teresa Crescent- Park Street for onward journey or alternatively Mathura Road or Ring Road or B.S.Z. Marg to reach Delhi Gate and take Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, D.B.G. Road.

 

New Delhi Railway Station –  Second Entry Gate of Ajmeri Gate side. They can reach station via Pahar Ganj – Shiela Cinema or through Ajmeri Gate – J.L.N. Marg side via B.S.Z. Marg – Delhi Gate – J.L.N. Marg.

 

PARKING ARRANGEMENTS

 

Limited parking place will be available near Connaught Place on first come first served basis.  Motorists can park their vehicles at the following places in the vicinity of Connaught Place:-

 

(i)       Near Gole Dak Khana on

(a) Kali Bari Marg

(b) Pt. Pant Marg

(c) Bhai Veer Singh Marg

(ii)          Near Patel Chowk on Rakab Ganj Road behind AIR.

(iii)        Near Mandi House on Copernicus Marg upto Baroda House.

(iv)     Near Minto Road on D.D. Upadhaya Marg and Press Road area.

(v)      Panchkuian Road on R.K. Ashram Marg, Chitragupta Road & Basant Road    towards Pahar Ganj.

(vi)     K.G. Marg near Ferozshah Road or K.G. Marg towards ‘C’ Hexagon.

(vii)    Near Windsor Place

(a)  Rajender Prasad Road

(b)  Raisina Road

 

(i)           Special drive against drunken driving Traffic Police will deploy Seventy (70) teams to check drunken driving.  For drunken driving apart from fines upto Rs. 2000/-, suspension of D/L, defaulters may be given a jail term.  This year up to 15/12/2013, 24,564 drivers have been prosecuted for drunken driving out of which 3397 drivers have been awarded jail term for drunken driving. Driving Licenses of 631 motorists have been suspended.

 

(ii)          Special pickets to check stunts on motorcycles, over speed, rackless, zig-zag and dangerous driving in co-ordination with local police and PCR will placed at Mehrauli, Saket, Vasant Vihar, South-Extn., Rajouri Garden, Pitampura Laxmi Nagar and Mayur Vihar.

 

(iii)        Two wheeler riders are advised to wear helmets and avoid triple riding.

 

Motorists are requested to observe the traffic laws and rules to ensure their safety and the safety of other road users.  All are requested to cooperate with Traffic Police in these arrangements.
