41st Annual General Meeting hosted by NHPC

NHPC Limited, hosted its 41st Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Faridabad on 27th September 2017. Shri Balraj Joshi, CMD, NHPC addressed the shareholders at the AGM wherein members of NHPC Board including Independent Directors and others senior officers from NHPC were also present.

While addressing the gathering, Shri Joshi expressed his gratitude to all the shareholders for their contribution to the success of the company. Shri Joshi also highlighted the achievements made by NHPC during FY 2016-17. While presenting the Company’s Annual Report for the year ended 31st March 2017, Shri Joshi informed that the net profit of the company has increased from Rs. 2433.13 crore in FY 2015-16 to Rs. 2,803.26 crores in FY 2016-17. He further added that the NHPC Board has recommended a dividend of Rs 1.80 per share for the period. The Company generated 23,275 MUs of electricity and achieved ‘Very Good’ rating for overall performance in terms of MoU signed with Ministry of Power, Govt. of India. Shri Joshi also spoke that NHPC has added 130 MW to its installed capacity during the year with commissioning of Unit III & IV (40 MW each) of Teesta Low Dam-IV Project (40 MW X 4) in West Bengal and 50 MW Wind Energy in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

Shri Joshi highlighted that presently three hydroelectric projects namely Kishanganga, Parbati-II and Subansiri Lower having an aggregate installed capacity of 3,130 MW are in construction stage. The 1st unit of the Kishanganga HE Project is expected to be commissioned during the current year. Further, clearances for five prospective projects having planned capacity of 4,995 MW is under process. The Company is also envisaging development of one 32 MW solar power project in Uttar Pradesh and four hydroelectric projects namely Kiru, Kwar and Pakal Dul in Jammu & Kashmir (2,164 MW) and Chamkharchhu – I (770 MW) in Bhutan respectively through Joint Venture Companies.
