Ahead of the Union Budget, the Finance Ministry has asked ministries and departments to restrict their expenses with the revised estimates. The ministry also sought proposals for the third and final batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants and asked the ministries to submit proposals by February 10. The government estimates fiscal deficit at 6.8% of the GDP in 2022-23 .
