CRIME BRANCH DELHI NABS GANG OF 3 PERSON INCLUDING KINGPIN WHO KIDNAPPED AND FORCED POOR GIRLS INTO MARRIAGE

 

GANG INVOLVED IN KIDNAPPING FOR FORCED MARRIAGE OF POOR GIRLS OF JHARKHAND, WEST BENGAL AND BIHAR, BUSTED.
THREE PERSONS INCLUDING THE KINGPIN ARVIND ARRESTED.
2 GIRLS INCLUDING ONE MINOR RECOVERED AND 7 MORE IDENTIFIED.
The Crime Branch has busted a gang of human traffickers with the arrest of the kingpin namely Arvind (26 yrs.)r/o Vill. Gola, Distt. Muzaffarnagar, UP alongwith two buyers namely Narender (30 yrs.)  r/o Vill. Gola, Distt. Muzaffarnagar, UP and Sandeep (22 yrs.)  r/o Vill. Bitwada, Distt. Muzaffarnagar, UP. The gang is involved in trafficking of poor girls belonging to Jharkhand, West Bengal and Bihar from Delhi railway stations to UP and other states. 2 girls including one minor girl have been recovered and 7 more have been identified.
INCIDENT, TEAM AND OPERATION
On 21.11.15, report regarding missing of one girl belonging to Gumla, Jharkhand was lodged at PS Old Delhi Railway Railway Station, Delhi. Later on, a compliant in this regard was also received by Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Crime Branch and a team led by ACP Jitender Singh, comprising of Insp. Vipin Kumar, SI Virender Kumar, ASI Ramdev, HCs Vinod, Anoop, HC Ramesh, Ct. Praveen and L/Ct. Sukanya was constituted under the supervision of DCP Rajeev Sharma for in-depth investigation to trace the girl.
The facts were verified and after gathering necessary information, the missing girl was recovered from the house of one Sandeep  r/o Vill. Bitwada, Distt. Muzaffarnagar, UP on 3.12.15. On further enquiry, it was revealed that the victim girl alongwith her cousin was kidnapped by one Arvind r/o Vill. Gola, District Muzaffarnagar, UP and his wife Anjali @ Manju from Old Delhi Railway Station on 05/10/15. They had forcibly solemnized her marriage with the above Sandeep. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 736/15 dated 04.12.15 u/s 363/365/370/376/341/ 323/120-B/34 IPC and 3/4 POCSO Act, PS Old Delhi Railway Station, Delhi and both the accused Arvind and Sandeep were promptly arrested in the case.
On sustained interrogation, accused Sandeep and Arvind disclosed that they have kidnapped/abducted about 12 girls hailing from Jharkhand and West Bengal from Railway Station in Delhi since April this year and sold them for further forced marriages with some persons in the areas of Muzaffarnagar, Shamli and Baghpat, UP. The buyers were those who could not get bride in their community due to adverse sex ratio and other reasons. It was also established that the girls were sold to the prospective ‘grooms’ for a consideration amounting to rupees 40,000/- to 60,000/-.
On sustained interrogation of the accused persons, it was revealed that this gang was operating since last six months and used to lure/kidnap poor girls found at New/Old Delhi Railway Stations. A team was again sent to UP to locate and trace out the other abducted/ trafficked girls and the other persons involved in the trafficking. During one such raid, one minor girl belonging to West Bengal aged about 14 years was also recovered from Village Gola, District. Muzaffarnagar, UP and the accused Narender who had forcibly married her after buying her for Rs. 40,000/-, was arrested. Whereabouts of 7 other such girls have been traced and three other girls are yet to be traced. It has also come to notice that one notorious criminal of that area, namely Ravi Pandit is also actively involved in this racket. Efforts are in progress to trace the accused Ravi Pandit and Anjali, wife of the accused Arvind.
MODUS OPERANDI
From the investigation conducted so far, it has been revealed that this gang is involved in kidnapping/abduction of poor girls from Old Delhi and New Delhi Railway Stations, who come to Delhi in search of job. They would operate at railway stations in wee hours and induce/lure the poor girls particularly those hailing from Jharkhand and West Bengal. Initially, they would offer them some attractive jobs and when the girls would fell in their trap, they would sell them to various persons for forcibly marrying them.
RECOVERY
One minor girl aged about 14 years, who was sold to accused Narender for Rs. 40,000/-.
One girl aged about 19 years who was sold to accused Sandeep for Rs. 45,000/-.
Seven other trafficked girls identified.
Further investigation is in progress to recover/trace the remaining girls and accused persons
