New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday refused to give protection against arrest to former Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal, who faces charges of rape and molestation from a former staffer.
Justice Sunita Gupta refused to restrain the Goa Police from arresting Mr Tejpal. Mr Tejpal’s lawyer had urged the Court to pass an oral order to the Goa Police not to arrest him. The Court dismissed the plea.
Earlier, counsel for the Goa Police vehemently opposed Mr Tejpal’s application seeking anticipatory bail in the case. Opposing the application, counsel for the State Police submitted that Mr Tejpal could not be granted protection against his arrest keeping in view the gravity of the charges against him.
