Gandhinagar: 1983 batch IAS Jagadip Narayan Singh will be new Chief Secretary of Gujarat.J N Singh is to replace 1981-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer G R Aloria as the new Chief Secretary of Gujarat on the latter’s retirement.A 1983 batch Gujarat cadre officer, J N Singh is also the Managing Director of state-owned GSPC Group and its group companies. He is currently Additional Chief Secretary(ACS) of Finance department.There are IAS officers senior than Dr. Singh in Gujarat cadre(Dr. Amarjit Singh, Tapan Ray, Hasmukh Adhia, Rita Teaotia and Pradip Kumar Pujari) but they are posted in Delhi.
Prior to being elevated as the Additional Chief Secretary in the finance department, Singh has held pivotal posts in several state and central government departments including Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation, Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd and Textile Commissioner Office, among others.M.A (Inter-national Studies) from Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU) in Delhi and MDM from AIM, Manila, Mr. Singh got his Ph.D.from Maharaja Sayajirao Unievrsity(MSU) Vadodara.1959 born Mr. Singh is going to retire in year 2019. He was appointed as IAS in October 1983.
