NTPC lends help to dairy farmers, to set up ten ILD centres with an estimation of Rs 1.7 crore

NTPC-Ramagundam will establish 10 Integrated Livestock Development (ILD) centres in the surrounding villages of the power plant for providing the services of artificial insemination & veterinary first aid to cows and buffaloes at the doorsteps of the farmers. Sponsored under CSR-CD with an estimation of Rs. 17 crore, these centres will be run by JK Trust Gram Vikas Yojana for five years. At a programme held at Kazipalli ILD centre on Monday chief guest M S Ramesh, GM (HR), NTPC-Ramagundam inaugurated the centre and reiterated NTPC’s commitment to the nearby farmers. The project aims to provide breeding, feeding and management services at the doorsteps of the dairy farmers in the 25 surrounding villages, he added.

This will not only help in milk production from present 3 litres to 7 litres a day for a breedable animal but also increase the breedable population in 25 villages from present 11,000 to 20,000 in next five years, said P V Sharma, State project manager, J K Trust. As per the plan, these ten ILD centres will run at Kazipalli, Gunturpalli, Jaulapalli, Maradpalli, Kannala, Jayaram, Potiyala, Murmur, Raydandi and Malayalpalli. Each of these ILD centres will be operated by an expert known as ‘Gopal’ and will cover two-three villages.
