PNB PARTICIPATES AS A PANELIST IN A SEMINAR ORGANIZED BY PHD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

New Delhi: Dr. Rakesh Gupta, General Manager,PNB participating as Panelist in a seminar “Doubling Farmers Income by 2022- Role of Banks & Financial Institutions”, organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with NABARD  at New Delhi.

The program was also attended by Mr. Amarjeet Sinha, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development ,Dr. JP Mishra, Adviser(Agriculture),NITI Aayog, Mr. Girish Nair, Senior Operations Officer, The World Bank Group, Mr. R. Amalorpavanathan, Deputy Managing Director,NABARD , Mr. Raj Benhalkar,Chief Risk and Strategy, National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX), Mr. Vijay Sardana ,Member, Commodity Derivatives Advisory Committee,SEBI, Policy Makers, Industry, Research & Academic Institutions, Extension Agencies, and other stake-holders in Agriculture sector in India. .

 

Dr. Rakesh Gupta, General Manager said that we need a different Agriculture that supports more people in farming  and at the same time we need to understand that agriculture is also a kind of business and deserves similar attention like other important sectors. He further added that the efforts should be towards “ease of farming” in terms of mechanization, infrstructure and technological advances on the line of ease of doing business”.  He emphasized on setting up of  Agriculture Technology Training Institutes (ATTIs) , in rural and semi-urban areas, offering certified courses covering modern agronomy, mechanized farming, soil, water and pest management, farm equipment operations, etc. to fill the  gap of skill shortage.
