POWERGRID posts a net profit of Rs.1040 crore for Quarter I

Mumbai, 02.08.2013 : Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a ‘Navratna’ Company and the ‘Central Transmission Utility (CTU)’ of the country, has posted a net profit of ` ­­­­­1040 crore for the first quarter of FY 2013-14 (April-June, 2013), an increase of 20% against ` 870 crore reported during the corresponding quarter ended June 30, 2012.

Total Income (turnover) for first quarter (April-June, 2013), rose to ` 3634 crore, up by 22% from ` 2980 crore in the corresponding year-ago period.

POWERGRID had registered a net profit of ` 4234.5 crore on a turnover of  ` 13,329 crore in the FY 2012-13, registering a growth of about 23.6% in Turnover and 30% in Net Profit compared to FY 2011-12 and the Company has declared a total dividend of 27.5%.

At present, POWERGRID is operating more than 101,000 ckt. kms. of transmission lines along with 169 Sub-stations and transforma­tion capacity of about 168,000 MVA. During the first quarter, Inter-Regional power transmission capacity of 2100MW has been added thereby enhancing the total Inter-Regional power transmission capacity of the National Grid to about 31,850MW. The average availability during the quarter was maintained at 99.9%.

During the 12th Plan period (2012-2017), POWERGRID has planned capital expenditure of  Rs.  100,000 crore. The company has a capex plan of ` 20,000 crore for the current financial year.
