President Lays foundation stone for BDL’S unit at Maharashtra
Her Excellency Smt. Pratibha Devsingh Patil,the Hon’ble President of India ,laid the foundation stone for Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL)’s unit at Nandgaon Peth in Amravati District,Maharashtra on 11 Dec 2011.BDL is a Mini-ratna Category-1 Company under the Ministry of Defence. This is the first manufacturing unit of BDL outside Andhra Pradesh.The company plans to produce very short range Air Defence Missile (VSHORAD) at its new unit.An area of about 530 acres has been acquired by the company for its new missile unit.
Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble President of India, said that India’s defence forces need to upgrade and modernize their equipment to keep pace with the rapid changes taking place in the world.The Hon’ble President congratulated the employees of the company on the occassion.
