REC signs MoA with NCF under CSR

Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC), under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, recently signed a  Memorandum of Agreement with National Culture Fund (NCF) and Gujarat State Women’s Sewa Co-operative Federation Ltd (Gujarat SEWA), for providing financial assistance of  Rs. 1.58 crorefor reviving the traditional arts and crafts and provide sustainable livelihood opportunities to the artisans in the state of Gujarat, through the women artisan cooperatives and self-help groups.

The Memorandum was signed by Shri P.J. Thakkar, Director (Technical), REC,  Shri Deepak Ashish Kaul, Director & Member Secretary, NCF and Ms. Lalita Krishnaswamy, President, Gujarat SEWA, in the presence of Shri Rajeev Sharma, CMD, REC, Smt SangeetaGairola, Secretary, Culture, GoI, and other senior officials from REC, Ministry of Culture and NCF.

This initiative would directly impact the lives of 1200 women artisans in the districts of Ahmadabad, Mehsana, Patan, Kutchh and Surat, and contribute towards revival of the traditional arts and crafts, marketing of the products and strengthening of the co-operatives, leading to socio-economic up-liftment of the artisans and development of rural industry in the State.
