RISE IN POLLUTION LEVEL IN YAMUNA RIVER AT WAZIRABAD POND

New Delhi: Due to rise in pollution level of the river Yamuna at the Wazirabad pond again, the production of drinking water has been curtailed at the Wazirabad and Chandrawal Water treatment Plants by 50%. The ammonia level has risen to 1.1 ppm against the permissible limit of 0.2 ppm, in the raw water available at Wazirabad pond.

The Member (Water Supply) has taken up the matter with his counterpart in Haryana.
Further, the CEO, DJB, has taken up with the Chairman, Central Pollution Control Board requesting for urgent action in the matter.

The water supply under the command area of the two WTPs will be affected. DJB regrets the inconvenience caused to its consumers.
