Hon’ble Former President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind graced the event as Chief Guest

New Delhi…March 15, 2023… After three successful editions, Lokmat Media once again hosted the 4th edition of Lokmat Parliamentary National Conclave and Awards 2022 supported by the Government of Telangana in the capital city, Delhi. The awards are aimed to acknowledge the phenomenal work done by parliamentarians and the significant contribution towards creating progress of the country. The award recognizes these acclaimed parliamentarians as a source of inspiration and pride of our country.

This year, Shri. Ram Nath Kovind, Hon’ble Former President of India was the Chief Guest at the event. Lokmat National Conclave focused on the topic “Indian Democracy: How close to maturity?” The esteemed speakers were Shri. Anurag Singh Thakur, Hon’ble Union Minister of I&B, Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India; Shri. Kiren Rijiju, Hon’ble Union Minister of Law & Justice, Govt. of India; Shri. Digvijaya Singh, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha & Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh; Shri. Sitaram Yechury, Hon’ble General Secretary, CPI (M); Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India; Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture; Shri Raghav Chadha, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha; Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha; and Smt. Supriya Shrinate, Chairperson of Social Media & Digital Platforms of Indian National Congress. 

Shri Vijay Darda, Chairman Lokmat Media Group and Former MP, Rajya Sabha, said, “Lokmat parliamentary awards was started with a vision to motivate the leaders for doing their work and efforts for social development. So that we can ensure the selfless duty of leaders is being appreciated enough. This year is very special as it is the 100th year of my father’s birth anniversary and the golden jubilee year for Lokmat media. My father used to say that the readers are real owners of any newspaper and today, we have tried our best to incorporate the same philosophy in lokmat media so far. To support the power of media, lokmat group has successfully established the statue of freedom of the press in Nagpur as well, with this lokmat group will keep trying to support the freedom of the press and grow as people’s media.

Shri. Ram Nath Kovind, Hon’ble Former President of India while congratulating all the award winners and Lokmat Media Group for organizing the event said, “Democracy in India has been prevalent from the era of Rigved and therefore it becomes our duty to work and protect the sanctity of such great democracy.  A successful leader is one who can be a part of people’s joys and sorrows especially the weaker section of society who look upon their leader with the hope to make their life better. Hence it is our basic duty to cater to the people and help them for their overall betterment.”

Shri Sharad Pawar, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Former Union Minister, and President of NCP, “It feels great to be at the Lokmat Parliamentary Awards after a gap of two years due to the pandemic. Lokmat has become the medium to appreciate the work of our leaders and they are doing phenomenal work to motivate them. Such awards and recognition will help them to keep up their enthusiasm. A parliament is a place for the parliamentarians to take action and voice opinions whenever there are any issues faced by the country whether on a district or state level as well. Therefore, parliamentary leaders become the path setters for every citizen of the country. I am glad to be the Chair of the jury for the Lokmat Parliamentary Awards and we were able to choose such great leaders for their contribution. Through the Lokmat Parliamentary Awards, the Lokmat media group is also setting a benchmark for the quality of work expected from the leaders of our country. This will certainly encourage them to do better”.

Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Hon’ble Union Minister of I&B, Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. Of India, said, “This is the new India which belongs to the youth who aspires for the country to not only grow and develop but also give equal importance to peace. After the eradication of Article 370, in Jammu and Kashmir, there has been a visible improvement in tourism. Peace has been maintained and the state is growing economically well. Development has always been our core focus and our exemplary fieldwork is evidence of the same. Today India’s economy is among the world’s top 5 economies. We have ensured a targeted focus on rural India as we believe that the real progress of the country will come from the grassroots. We have provided water, bank accounts, and debit cards to the weaker section. We are also committed towards education and technology to ensure the betterment of the youth in our country.” 

Hon’ble Former Secretary General, Rajya Sabha; Dr. S. Y. Quraishi Hon’ble Former Chief Election Commissioner of India; Shri. Shekhar Gupta Founder & Editor-in-Chief, The Print; Shri. Vijay Darda, Chairman, Lokmat Media Group and Former MP, Rajya Sabha; Shri. Hemant Sharma, News Director, TV9 and Shri. Harish Gupta National Editor, Lokmat Media Group were members. 

Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Hon’ble President of Indian National Congress & Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Shri Bhartruhari Mahtab, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha are bestowed by Lifetime Achievement Lokmat Parliament award. Best Parliamentarian of the Year 2022 award went to Shri Derek O’Brien, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and Shri Asaduddin Owaisi, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha. Best Women Parliamentarian of the Year 2022 award was given to Smt. Vandana Chavan, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and Ms Locket Chatterjee, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha. Prof Manoj Kumar Jha, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and Shri Tejasvi Surya, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha have been awarded with Best Debutant Parliamentarian of the Year 2022.
